Fun Things in Thailand

Christmas in Asia seems odd to me. Not many Asians are Christian and therefore they have no Christmas tradition. Since there are so many Christmas trees and decorations in both Cambodia and Thailand, we think this is just to make the tourists from the UK, USA, Russia, and Australia feel like they're home. Some trees are quite beautiful and others are silly. This tree is in one of our two resort restaurants.

One amazingly pleasant occurance this week is that we were upgraded from a "hotel suite" to a beach front villa! The suite was quite nice and really was all we needed. Since the CocoMart here has very little in terms of food -- some eggs and ramen -- a mini-kitchen was all that we needed. However, we didn't turn  them down when the offer was made. We had to pack up and lug our stuff down the hill. After all, why do they call it luggage? We could have waited for a porter, but I guess we were more excited than we knew!

Here is the Jacuzzi from our original digs.

Here's where we are now! We ended up in a wonderful beach front villa with two bedrooms. Just imagine, you could be in the guest room!

We messed around the resort for a day or so, lauging our heads off on the waterslide, walking on the beach, reading, napping, eating and being lazy! It's a vacation, after all.

Eventually, we left the island for a Cultural Tour.

We visited a Chinese house that for some reason delighted our guide. We never discovered what it was that engaged him, but his exuberance loosened us up and we took a series of silly photos.

Here are a few scenes from inside the house.
