Cambodian Massage

The spa is next to this waterfall at the pool.

When we finally got our free (!) massages I knew I wasn't in Kansas any more. They gave us lovely cotton PJs to wear during the massage. Jim was relieved because he doesn't like the oil used in most massages. The PJs are a good idea, actually, eliminating the worry about keeping privates covered.

The tables are wide -- wide enough for you and a friendly massuese! There's lots of stretching facilitated by the massuese using her body to create just the right amount of pressure and stretch. The PJs were great for those of us who are shy about exposing intimate parts of our body! The massueses also do cupping (slapping with a cupped hand) that is surprisingly loud and seemed to go along meridian lines.

The whole experience is more like Shiatsu than anything else I've experienced. It was totally relaxing and very effective. It only things it didn't address were my poor leg muscles which really got a workout in the ancient temple ruins.

Given that we took a 6 hour "nap" after our sunrise visit to Angkor Wat, then had dinner and the massage, sleeping another 3 hours was significant. I'm sure the massage put us in the right state.
