What an auspicious start to our month long trip to Asia. Perfect connections from BART to SFO to Seoul, Korea, to Siem Reap, Cambodia. We had arranged from the hotel to pick us up at the airport and were delighted that our driver had a tuk tuk vehicle (a motorized rickshaw).

Our hotel is in town -- in the middle of a sketchy area where folks were partying at 1AM. We were a little worried but it turns out to be the perfect hotel! The Golden Temple Hotel. There are beautiful Buddhas everywhere.

Such an amazing piece of luck -- all because I really consulted TripAdvisor when booking this trip. This is the perfect hotel for the kind of trip we wanted -- see the people but not so offbeat that we feel isolated!
Cooking Class
We have considered a Thai Cooking class while we are in Thailand next week. They are really expensive. When we saw our hotel had a cooking class for only $10 -- we signed up. Here's Jim getting ready to make a real curry paste -- minced and pounded. It's way better than what we've been buying from a can (via the Monterey Market in Berkeley).
Can't wait for our next dinner party.
